Home In The Aftermath
Mixed media sculpture
I made this sculpture after a traumatic family experience, this piece illustrated the feelings while I had while living in the house where the events took place. The days after the event, tension just hung in the air. I remember the event happening at 6 pm and the next thing I remember was waking up the next day in complete darkness. There were no lights in my room or the entire house. I felt trapped but I also had too much anxiety to leave my home because I was afraid something physically tragic would happen to my family. Years of pain, hurtful memories, feeling of being ignored came up as a result of this event.
